Location: Institute of Physics, London
In February, users of the STFC Technology Department developed HEXITEC detector gathered for a workshop at the Institute of Physics in London. At the workshop, attendees shared their experiences of using the "colour" X-ray detector in a range of applications from material science to medical imaging.
Around 40 researchers from around the UK, Germany, Belgium, and the USA gathered in person, with 10 more joining online from Japan and the US.
During the workshop, STFC presented advances in the HEXITEC cameras, interconnect, CT (computed tomography) reconstructions, and a new version of the technology that will operate at 100 times higher rates.
Users also gave presentations, which included:-
novel X-ray fluorescence imaging to aid the development of pharmaceuticals
-
a Compton camera configuration to image prompt gamma-rays during hadron therapy
-
developments of prototype SPECT scanners for theragnostics
-
colour X-ray imaging at synchrotrons
-
quantitative transmission imaging to measure nuclear materials
The meeting also included discussions of how to improve the HEXITEC technology, applications for the new detector, and how the community of users can share experiences and best practices.
