In September, staff from our High Power Targets Group travelled to Spain to attend the 9th Annual RaDIATE Collaboration Meeting.
RaDIATE is a collaboration led by Fermilab which seeks to identify ways of mitigating radiation damage to accelerator materials with the hopes of enabling a boost in beam power in the future.
The meeting was hosted by the Centro de Investigaciones Energéticas, Medioambientales y Tecnológicas and the Consorcio IFMIF-DONES España at the Palacio de Quinta Alegre.
Topics discussed ranged from applications with radiation damage concerns to post-irradiation examination facilities and remote handling techniques.
Dan Wilcox, a Mechanical Engineer in our HPTG, gave the presentation 'Simulating Radiation Damage on ISIS Targets; which detailed our collaboration with ISIS Neutron and Muon Source.
