Our skilled Manufacturing Facilities team serves as the in-house experts for the manufacture of bespoke components at STFC's Rutherford Appleton Laboratory.
This includes Sam and Dave, who specialise in Dimensional Metrology and Additive Manufacturing. Their skills ensure that customers receive the accurate measurement of assemblies to the UK's national standard and enable the rapid prototyping and production of components using 3D printing techniques.
Last year, the pair applied their extensive technical knowledge to producing hundreds of STFC fish. These keepsakes were given to visitors who toured our facilities during Harwell Open Week 2024.
Although the fish are a little bit different to the enabling technology usually produced by our AM team, they help to demonstrate the breadth of what 3D printing can achieve.
